The Story of Our Guesthouse: A Dream Built Over Time

When we first laid eyes on the property that would eventually become our guesthouse, we had no idea that it would mark the beginning of such an incredible journey. It all started with a family house built in the year 2000, set within a lush, tropical garden of about 5000 sqm.

The house had changed hands a few times, and after being inhabited for seven years, it was put back on the market. My husband and I first visited in 2016, and to be honest, we weren’t exactly impressed. The garden was overgrown, and the house was only accessible through an open garage. Not exactly the picturesque setting we had imagined.

But, as it often goes in life, things changed. About six months later, the estate agent reached out again. Curious but still cautious, we agreed to take another look. This time, something about the place spoke to us. The garden, though wild, had so much potential, and the house had a charm that we hadn’t noticed before. We left that second visit with an idea in our minds—a big one. What if we could turn this place into a guesthouse?

After some deep discussions, lots of thinking, and a little bit of dreaming, we decided to take the plunge. On December 8th, 2016, the keys were handed to us, and the real work began.

The first year wasn’t easy. The house needed a lot of love—renovation, repairs, cleaning, and the garden, a lot of pruning. This garden, which we now see as our little piece of paradise, was a far cry from the beautiful space it is today. But with every challenge came a sense of determination and excitement. We worked tirelessly, fixing up the house and preparing it to welcome guests from near and far.

By the time we opened our doors, we had transformed not just a property but our lives. The opening wasn’t without its challenges, though. Like many businesses, we faced a tough start, and then the Covid pandemic hit. We were forced to close, like so many others, but we held on. That time taught us a lot about resilience and patience. And when we finally opened our doors again, it felt even more meaningful.

Today, despite the ups and downs, we are so grateful. Every guest who walks through our doors brings new energy and joy. We’ve found peace in what we do, and it fills us with happiness to share this beautiful space with people from all walks of life. Our journey to creating this guesthouse has been one of passion, hard work, and the belief that good things take time.

So, if you ever find yourself in our corner of the world, we hope you’ll stop by and experience a little of what we’ve created. From our family home to the guesthouse it is today, we can’t wait to share this journey with you.
