Shanti Ghar means Peaceful Home—a sanctuary where guests can relax, reconnect, and enjoy a slower pace of life. It is also a home of second chances, shared with another very special group of residents: our rescued cats.
Every cat who lives here has their own story of rescue, resilience, and finding a place to belong. Together, they have become an important part of the warmth and spirit of our home.
The oldest members of the family are Tipi and Pauline. Tipi, beautiful and dignified, was found wandering the streets over 14 years ago. For years after her rescue, she never uttered a single meow, earning a reputation as the quietest cat in the house. Pauline, by contrast, is a gentle socialite. Often found near the reception or TV area, she is always happy to claim a lap and enjoy a well-deserved cuddle.
Then there is Pablo “Escobar”, the undisputed boss of the house. Found lingering around a food truck many years ago, Pablo quickly made himself at home. Despite his advancing years, he still carries himself with the confidence and authority of a true leader.
Not far behind are Baileys and Ferrari, the most discreet members of the family. They prefer a quieter life and are masters of appearing just when you least expect them.
Marie-Jeanne arrived under very different circumstances. She was only a few weeks old when workers on a construction site heard the tiny kitten’s surprisingly loud cries. They contacted us for help, and before long, she became part of the family. Though she was once the smallest of them all, she has grown into a confident and cherished resident.

During the COVID years, a shy black cat began appearing at a distance each day. Little by little, he came closer, watching us from afar before eventually deciding this was where he belonged. We named him Peanut, inspired by a beloved black cat featured on a peanut butter jar—a name that suited him perfectly.
And finally, our youngest rescue arrived just before Christmas. She emerged from a gutter one beautiful day and immediately made her presence known. With her lively personality and her little chick by her side, Marie-Claude quickly captured both our home and our hearts. Playful, curious and endlessly entertaining, she is undoubtedly one of the children’s favourites.
Together, these remarkable cats help make this place so special. Their stories remind us that kindness can change lives, that every creature deserves a chance, and that sometimes the best families are the ones we find along the way. When you visit us, take a moment to meet our feline residents. They are part of our story, part of our family, and they are always delighted to welcome new friends.
