The Birth of the Pink Bicycle

Could I have ever imagined that, when I dreamed of riding a pink bicycle around my small village, delivering bread and pastries, it would actually become a reality?

Well… partly!

I was with my friend Cathyline on Tamarin Bay beach, enjoying a beautiful sunset while sipping some cold rosé wine—un moment de plaisir. As two friends who only see each other twice a year, we were chatting away, sharing our dreams and projects. And God knows, I have enough dreams for both of us.

I remember telling her, among other things, that I wanted to start a bread and pastry delivery service in the mornings—early deliveries for all the parents sending their kids to school who don’t want to drive to the bakery to prepare sandwiches. This service would also extend to weekends, for those times when they wanted to stay in their pajamas but still enjoy a treat at home.

But above all, I dreamed of making these deliveries on a pink bicycle.

We laughed, finished the bottle of wine, hugged each other, and went our separate ways.

A few weeks later, we heard that someone was selling classic bicycles. My husband and I went to check them out for our guesthouse, and to my surprise, sitting among them was a single pink bicycle.

I couldn’t believe my luck. I bought it—a vibrant pink bike with white pedals and seat, and black-and-white tires. Back home, I found my little notebook where I jot down all my ideas, opened it to the page where I had written about the pink bicycle, and began working on a feasibility study.

Soon, other tasks at the guesthouse took over, and the project was put on hold.

Since then, I’ve evolved, exploring other activities and carving out some “me time,” but whenever I can, I take that little pink bicycle for a spin—whether it’s to the beach, the bakery, the supermarket, or just for the sheer joy of riding it.

Today, I’m using its image to launch my blog, and I invite you to join me on my pink bicycle to explore my village, its surroundings, its people, and the wonderful things it has to offer.

So, sit tight, and let’s pedal away!
